"Boba Fett!" Real nice K12R Star Wars custom

Postby Tattoodles on Sun Mar 18, 2007 2:19 pm

I got my bike back from paint and assembly.

As many of you know, I got hit by a deer last fall while riding in southern Oregon. My bike sustained some minor damage but I managed not to crash during the impact.

I took advantage of the winter down time to do some fun custom work to my bike. Here's a few quick snapshots of some of the work. It was a damp day in Vancouver this morning, so I didn't feel like getting in to some close detailed shots of the work because the bike got kinda dirty from riding in the fog. I'll post up some closer inspection when I get a chance to detail it on the next sunny day (whenever that's going to be - maybe in July at this rate).

Image

I'm a huge Star Wars fan. I especially have a Boba Fett fetish. I've never seen a bike painted up as a tribute to Star Wars before, so I thought I'd take a stab at it. The bike is painted to replicate Boba Fett's space ship Slave1. Here's a photo of the ship to compare:

Image

The quality of detail in the paint is absolutely incredible. There's small seems with highlights and lowlights, there's rust and oil stains, blaster marks, small logos from the movie, score marks and vents and louvers.

Image

We added a new Garmin Zumo GPS system, which allows you to upload custom splash screens, has a built in MP3 player and satellite XM radio. We also removed the mirrors and installed an Ant Racing rear view video system, so I get a video feed displayed on a screen of the traffic behind me. The camera is just below the tail light. We also mounted my radar detector using a Pirate's Lair clutch reservoir mounting platform.

Image

As I mentioned, I'll post some more photos later.

Special thanks to:

Dave and Rusty at John Valk BMW for assembly http://www.johnvalkbmw.ca
Harald at Toxic Design Labs for paint http://www.toxikdesignlab.com/

Thanks for looking!

It's supposed to be 100% weatherproof. It works really, really well. I forgo the mirrors all together.

I have no idea who is Boba Fett, but could see the similarity with that picture of "Slave1". Well done.

Sure, but i haven't seen those new trilogy or what ever. Actually i haven't been in movies at least last ten years. Maybe i'll see it someday in TV. I saw those originals thousand years ago, but can't remember much.

Boba Fet is in the orriginial Star Wars that came out in the 1970's. He is a bounty hunter who has been hired (I think by Jabba the Hut) to kill Han's Solo, the pilot of the Millenium Falcon...Lukes friends...and oooooo, princes Leash's Lovah....oo...behave..

Eka belongs to the ancient tribe of the Turbocharging Finns... very peculiar and rare nowadays. National Geographic should be doing a show about them soon. :)

I can picture David Attenborough hidden behind a Turbo KR whispering in order to avoid waking up the turbo-beast and its master, the terrible goat smasher.

(Wish you fast recovery, Eka)

Brighter LCD.

I find the only drawbacks with the monitor is it's hard to make out vehicle lights against street lights at night and there's not a lot of definition of detail at what's behind you in the distance. For instance, if there's a vehicle traveling behind you at about 200 meters, it's difficult to make out what sort of vehicle it is (police or civilian, if you know what I'm saying).

Otherwise, it's a nice alternative to clunky sport bike mirrors.

I had to google that Wookie not to show my ignorance. Well, the plesiomorphism is obvious, but can't check it out, because my mother died when i was kid.
