Please click on the link below for a PDF presentation on the 2007 BMW K1200GT. This presentation is courtesy of BMWK1200S.COM and includes all the available info on this great bike. The price of US$17.5 is logical, however it hasn't been confirmed by BMW.

This PDF presentation includes list of options and accessories as well. Cheers, S

Good work Shiva, looks like a really hot RT! (in S clothing).

Now if we can get that rear rack and sidebags on an S all's good!!!

I actually like it a lot. What a complete, thoughtful design.

Some of the details that I notice from these images:

The seat is more comfortable, specially for the passenger. (it must be heated)
RT style, color match luggage.
Large and quite beautiful electric front shield.
Electronic Cruise control.
Unique, side and front fairings.
Center stand.
The pegs look lower to me.
The handle bars are RT-style and should enable an upright riding position.

Nice job, BMW... :) S

I am so pleased it is so visually distintive from the S.

BMW has clearly kept this model as the performance alternative to the RT in its range which will continue to distinguish the S as the bike for genuine Sports/ tourer riders.

It will make a nice Police bike to,o but its way to heavy and touring orientated to attract me.

Giving up 17hp and lugging around another couple of cement bags in weight is not my idea of sports touring, but well done BMW , I am sure there will be a big market for it.

Our exclusive K1200GT post has generated quite an interest. It has received over 5000 hits in its first 24hrs. That's not bad at all, this maybe a sign that this bike will have a large following.

I'd like to again welcome new members who may have found us through our K1200GT coverage. We are of course the international discussion forum for the 2007 K1200GT, as well as K1200S, K1200R and PowerCup.

Cheers, S

Same as the reporter for the NY Times, I can't reveal my sources either. ;) But these are actual images from a BMW marketing packet that I received from a contact outside of the US.

As for the R12S, I am not focused on that bike. However on Monday/Tuesday you should know alot more about it. There'll be live reports coming from Milan. I'll be posting them on our forum. Have you seen these pics of the bike:
http://bmwk1200s.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=13001#13001

Also the R12S, K12GT, F800S, F800ST according to MCN-UK will be at the Milan show.

One last thing, apparently the 07 K12GT will have Xenon lighting. :) S

I know what you mean. It's a nice machine. It's about 40lbs or so lighter than the current K12GT and has about 22 more ponies.

Have you seen these side cases work on an R12RT, they are the best I've seen yet from BMW (the 12GS also has nice luggage). So, it should be good to have them on this bike too, also you will sit pretty upright on the new GT, that was one gripe that most people had with the old GT.

I don't like the upright seating position myself. I had the R12RT for a few days and logged about 200 miles on it, maybe more. About 60 miles was two up. That bike makes you forget you have a passenger, incredible. You can adjust the shield precisely where you want it and create the least noisy environment. However at no time, did I actually enjoy riding that bike. The upright riding position puts me to sleep (as in it's boring).

This is one bike I can't wait to test ride and ride a report on (and the R12S). For me, the K1200R is too close to the S to merit an independent ride report. But this baby is different.

two full bags??

Postby Chris in NY on Thu Nov 10, 2005 1:51 pm

I can't ell from the pix if both bags are full size. That is one of my complaints about my 2003 GT - great bike ... but couldn't they have made some muffler adjustments.

Anyhow - any sighting if both bags are full size? Waiting for more pix as to whether or not this is the bike i was hoping for. It did go on a 50 pound diet or so compared to the older version, but maybe could have gotten it under 600 pounds.

Seems great, but...

Postby Dr J on Thu Nov 10, 2005 2:28 pm

I hope they change the windshield and head light in final production, to give it a little more original character - looks too much like the average Asian bike at the front to me now...

Nevertheless, I think this is the bike I'm going to buy next season ! (As long as you're not sitting too straight up, I hope ...)

Any change on a class between S and GT by the way (2007 RS anyone ??)

That would really make my day...

I am not sure if I like it or not. I really must see one "live" to have a precise opinion. I am not completely convinced by that totally flat side panels... but well... let's wait.
The riding position must be good... and the comfort better than in the S. When I reach the age of 40 (in 6 years)... who knows? Right now the S is just fine!

The colors all look matt... better, I suppose, to keep demand for the first year low so the bugs can be worked out.
I currently ride an Aprilia Futura
