Nandi 2.5 - Badder and Blacker [Images & Video]

Postby SHIVA on Mon Feb 12, 2007 6:48 pm

Nandi 2.0 is the latest incarnation of my own black K1200RS. This baby is a very spoiled K12RS, with a built date of 5/1999, and delivery of 11/1999 and ridden in early 2000. It currently has over 54,000 miles. Its name is Nandi, named after the famed white bull that lord Shiva (India's most powerful god) rides upon, in Hindu mythology.

Nandi 2.0 refers to the new incarnation of this bad boy, which includes: new paint job and this time, BMW Black Sapphire Metallic, powder coated rims, passenger grab rail and foot peg brackets. New Remus Genesis exhaust system, with ceramic coated headers and Carbon Fiber canister. New Remus modified, Rhine West chip. New steel braided brake lines by Melvin. K&N filter. New aluminum speedo rings from Hornig. Stealth and aero rear seat bag by ZTechnik. New set of black powder coated driving lights by Motolights, running 75 watt bulbs. Newly painted front turn signal lenses and clear, aftermarket lenses all around and many many more. All installation and service has been performed by the enthusiastic team at BMW of Manhattan Motorcycles.

:) :) :)

you know what say, when it gets old, increase the bling factor... ;)

but seriously I really enjoy riding this bike and now with a chip and proper exhaust system it is simply amazing. I have had Staintune and 2 Bros on this bike and the best by far is this new system from Remus.

the chip and the exhaust combo is the best set up in this bike yet. The sluggish, 2Bros effect is gone. The bike is now how I remembered it to be before Two Brothers system. It pulls hard from idle and the exhaust note is as sweet as 2Bros, in fact it is a little throatier and overall more masculine. Kudos to Remus... :)

Dude, she looks freaking AMAZING!!! I really like the way the exhaust came out..
Every motorcycle has a lot of speed in it, the trick is getting the speed out of it.

You guys know that I ride all new bikes from BMW, however I really enjoy riding my K1200RS and now with a chip and proper exhaust system it is simply amazing. I have had Staintune and Two Brothers on this bike and the best exhaust system by far is this Genesis system from Remus.

After over 20,000 miles on 2, Two Brothers canisters, I had come to really hate their system. My bike is now how I remembered it to be before the Two Brothers exhaust. It pulls hard from idle, the freight train torque is back.

Hi Shiva, great looking bike, subtle changes but good ones, I am in the process of trying to update and enhance my K1200rs in dakar yellow.

Just putting pen to paper and drawing colour schemes at the moment, the exhaust is my sticking point! cant decide what looks better, that new remus you have is great.

I have an old back injury that occurs evry now and then so am considering fitting straight bars ?? and ideas would be a great help.

Cheers........keep up the great work.

hi gandy, as for the exhaust, either get Remus or keep it stock. Staintune is a waste of time. 2Bros will get destroyed if you don't repack and re-service frequently, also with 2Bros you loose too much low-end torque. They are called 2Bros Racing, because they don't really make road pipes, I made a mistake of just looking at the red-line HP increase. A huge mistake which I will never repeat. There is more to exhaust purchase than what happens at red line.

As for bars, I knew a lady doctor who put 8 inch bars on this bike. So, sky is the limit. But if you want to ride it sitting up, it would be best to get a bike that does it from the get go.

however, it's a great looking bike when you keep it stock. Cheers, S

If you had only one bike in your garage, would it be Nandi?

Hello Shiva, very sweet bike!

I got my first K12rs back in December (2000 in Mandarin/Grey) and it has a two brothers exhaust, OEM chip. It does seem pretty sluggish off the line in the low RPMs. Is this the "Two Brothers Effect" you refer to? It's very fast once you get the RPMs up.

Will a Staintune fit the same pipes I have now? ie. can I just take off the Two Brothers and put a Staintune in its place?

Thanks in advance for any info. This is my first post here...I like the looks of this forum very much.

Oh, and my riding group is heading out to our annual riding trip to central Texas in about 10 days :-)

Thanks!

hi, thanks for the comments. I think the problem is with Two Bros. I have no doubt about that. With the Remus I actually have too much torque, well not that I am complaining, but the bike is simply perfect now. With the 2Bros the fun started at above 6K rpm, with Remus system that I have this thing pulls hard from 3K RPM. big difference on a bike that weighs 630lbs. You need all the torque you can get, at the low rpm to get moving quick.

On the K1200RS machines, you must swap the whole system. Call up MaxMoto (see banner ad below for Remus) tell them you are thinking about getting the same system as I and if there is a way they can make you a good deal.

Good luck to you, S

I have the Two Bros on my 2002 and it is LOUD. Is the Remus quieter? The dealer offered to take the TB off my hands and put it back to stock for free . . .

hi, and welcome to the forum. TBR gets louder every 1000 miles, because the inside erodes and it needs to be repacked. Remus for my money is the only way to go and yes, it is quieter. I have the loudest Remus and it's still not that loud, you can opt for a standard remus can that is quieter... ;) S

Thanks - looks like the Remus will run me around a grand so I'm leaning toward going back to stock first and seeing how I like it.

is the dealer going to put on an OEM exhaust for free? Does he have a used OEM pipe, or will he order a new one? Also you may want to sell your TBR. S

They are offering to install an OEM exhaust, used pipe (not sure how used) for free in exchange for the TBR. I realize they are probably coming out ahead on that deal but I just want some relief from the noise.

thanks for the clarification. the bike actually has more low-end torque with the OEM exhaust... TBR only adds power if you keep the revs way up... :) S
