Acid Green Touch Up Paint?

Postby twgonzalez on Mon Apr 05, 2010 1:32 pm

Does anyone know if the Acid Green truly is the BMW Phoenix Yellow (used on the M3 Coupe?) I have a couple small nicks under the tail from some loose stones and wanted to get some touch up paint. Color Rite does not seem to have an Acid Green. I have heard people say it LOOKS like the Phoenix Yellow, but I wasn't sure if it IS the exact same color. Thanks is advance for anyone with the answer :)

Found this! :D

I actually need to get some of this as there are a couple of rub marks on my tail section. Not sure if it is from the straps for the tail bag or the Acid Green tail cover not fitting well. I seems pretty tight coming off and I think after repeated removal/installs and not paying attention it may have rubbed the corners of the bike's tail piece where the leading edge of the cover may come into contact when tilted for removal/install.

if you've changed the rear pillion seat to a cover, either plastic or carbon fiber, there's your problem right there. The bag is, according to BMW, explicitly designed to work only with the standard rear pillion seat. I'd guess due to the increased grip that the seat material provides.

For various reasons, I have decided not to swap my rear seat for a cover, and I do not have the bag sliding problems that many people are reporting. I also did find a way to strap the fronts on that also seems to help a lot - on the rear pillion peg holders, way up on the bolt itself, and then I tuck in the strap under the corner of the main seat. I think it's mostly an issue of trying to get the front straps pulling down as much as possible (and not forwards).

My paint is worn because I removed my passenger pegs and tethered the front bag tie downs under the passenger seat off of the straps on the underside of that seat. There was not enough space and the strap rubbed through on the corners located below the corners of the passenger seat. I can live with it for now until I get the bug to fix it back. It is not horrible and nobody else has pointed it out to me so I think it isn't very noticeable.

Just put some CRG folding Roll and Click levers on the other day. They look nice--black with red clickers--on Acid Green bike. Still need to adjust the clutch switch a little as when the lever is in the closer position the switch is not clicking and the bike won't start in gear if necessary--would not be able to switch modes on the fly also.

At this time the best way to get a Acid Green color is to take a panel off the bike and to a high end automotive paint supplier for paint matching. A company like an English Color paint strore or PPG or a Shewin Williams Automotive supplier any of them can make up this color. When buying paint from one of these suppliers the smallest quanity they sale is a pint and it will be about $50 to $60 and a quart will paint more that one bike.

I have did the same thing for my K1200S and my K1300s. I do repaint the bikes if they get damaged I fix it becuse the BMW parts or so expensive. I'm not recomending you do that but buying the equipment is not cheap, still its just a little more than the price of a faring.

Don't hold you breath for Color Rite to make it, there are still BMW colors that they don't supply plus they are higher than OEM paint.

It close to the Color of VW 2010 Beetle GECKO GREEN MEATALIC or a 2010 Kia Soul Alien Metallic. Past BMW bike have used VW colors.
