'03 K12rs Fairing Removal "How To"

Postby zich6 on Sun Apr 25, 2010 3:39 pm

I received the Gillson GPS hard wire and planned to pull it through to the battery via a pull cable I had a dealer install when I had a brake flush done a few weeks ago. Then it broke. I looked for a fairing removal "how to," for an '03 K12rs, but all I found was a "gunsmoke" http://www.gunsmoke.com/motorcycling/k1 ... index.html article that was for an earlier K12rs. Is there a step-by-step fairing removal for an '03 anywhere?

Since my bike is pre-canbus, I suppose I could wire it to the headlight if I could find a "how to" for that. That way I wouldn't have the constant current draw. Thanks.

Since the gps is mounted on the brake fluid cover, I took the easy way out. I took off the 4 belly pan screws on the right side, then threaded the wire to the battery. The 8ft. Gillson was plenty long enough. I keep the bike on a tender when I'm not using it, but I think I'll install a switch near the right fork anyway. Much easier than taking the fairing off.

We really should have a fairing removal "how to" though.
